I was diagnosed at age 7 with Perthes. My parents were given the options of either having a hole drilled through the bone and a vein inserted or to have me wheelchair bound. They chose the latter.
I had mild pain all my life. I had one child and worked for over 30 yrs. I had to switch to a real manual labor inclusive job in 1998 and literally wore down my hip bone by 2-3".
I am on SSD and cannot find an ortho doctor to take Medicaid for an THR. Any ideas?
Has anyone else lived a full life without having to get a THR?
