Hi Jennifer!

I was surprised to read your post. I also live in Calvert county. My 12 year old daughter has been dealing with Perthes for the past 2 years. Its such a small county, I'm surprised that we don't have a common acquaintance. If you want, you can contact me at murnin@olg.com and I would be happy to discuss the course of action that we took for my daughter. We went with the "wait and see" approach. I guess if the truth be told, I have mixed feelings on the outcome. If you want, you can e-mail me and we can talk directly. Please make sure that you include Perthes in the subject line, as I do not open e-mail from unknown addresses. I can't believe that there are 2 other cases in the county. It seems that I've spent the past 2 years explaining it because nobody had heard of it before.

: Hi Judy and others. My son, age 8, was just diagnosed today with Perthes in his right hip. The orthopaedist who diagnosed him doesn't specialize in pediatrics so he couldn't give us much more than the diagnosis. Ironically, the sister of a boy on my sons' baseball team was also diagnosed today. I was planning to followup with a doctor at Johns Hopkins. The other family went to Dr. Delahay at Georgetown. He also gave them the "wait and see" treatment plan. I would love to get updates on how others' treatment plans are going. I'm in Calvert County. It's pretty scary to read up on this on the internet because you find out lots of things you don't want to know. I'm trying to keep a realistic perspective so I don't drive myself crazy. Have you decided to go with the "wait and see?"

: Thanks...Jennifer
