At least you're in. I've been trying to get in, but have hit all kinds of roadblocks. I had LP as a kid.

As far as whether to stay in or not, vote with your hip. I assume that you really want to stay in, but are unsure of your medical future. As I am trying to get a waiver, I am asking myself the following questions: How much longer do I think my hip will last? Would I rather take the risk of being crippled later on/having hip replacement surgery by placing extra stress on it or is it worth it to be able to serve? What other options do I have? I would ask the Dr his/her opinion, but ultimately, decide based on the mileage you think you've got left on your hip. You may also try transferring to the Air Force/Coast Guard where the overall stress will probably be less than in the Army/Marines.

: I am a 24 y/o SPC in the US Army. I was diagnosed in Iraq, after a running injury. I'm trying to find someone that was a late diagnosis like me. I'm trying to find out if I should remain a Soldier, or call it a day. Someone please contact me.

: Thanks,
: SPC David E. Hines
