: i no at 23 you are very young to have a hip replacement but that is my 18yr old sons dearest wish to have a total hip replacement. i dont know where you live but here in our part of the world(northern uk) we cannot find a orthopedic surgeon anywhere who would agree to him having a one untill his late 30s or early 40s. i'm not sure he can wait that long. how he wishes he could have even a few hours a day when he diddnt have any pain. one thing i do find facinating reading all these stories is how different doctors and consultants have their own ways of treating perthes and those with long term problems.
