Back in June I posted a message about my 7 year old son being placed in traction for 6 weeks...well this is just an update. In July my son had a Salter Osteotomy performed on his hip and was placed in a cast from the chest down for 7 weeks. In mid September, the cast and pins were removed and an x-ray was taken. I nearly cried when I saw the pictures. His bones had started to regrow and they were so solid and appeared a beautiful white on the xray. It just amazing what the surgery did for my son. He went home using crutches and has been in therapy 3 days a week since. Just this Friday past, he was told to stop using his crutches and to begin walking on his own... AND HE CAN!!! PAIN FREE!!! He still has a limp, but we're told that'll fade slowly in about 6 months. His bones still need to completely heal and grow but he's pain free and that is an awesome thing. I just wanted to share this with you. It was a very hard thing to endure as a parent, and I know it was hard on my son, but we did it! So just hang in there, be patient and don't give up.
