Steve, Legg Perthes does not occur in adults. You are probably experiencing some of the long-term after effects of what you dealt with earlier. You could be experiencing some symptoms of osteoarthritis, the most common after effect of Legg Perthes,or you could be experiencing the less frequent problem of avascular necrosis (AVN). In the case of the former, some people have good results using glucosamine and chondroitin and some of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. I'm not sure what treatments are used for AVN.

If your hip was reasonably well contained as it healed (the usual purpose of braces, casts or surgery), you may have still had a less than optimal result because of the age at which you were diagnosed and treated. A femur head that is not ideally spherical is likely, over the years to develop arthritis. You're on the right track consulting an orthopedic specialist. You should make that doctor fully aware of your history of Legg Perthes. gary
