hey Brett -- I'm Michael and I'm 37 and have LP in the right hip. The last year for the first time I've had trouble stopping the (random) pain but one thing has helped a lot. Really good insoles in my sneakers. I only wear sneakers and if you put these in -- it really takes the shock off your hip joint when you walk -- I find it takes 85% of my pain away (unless I'm walking around constantly) Soon, I'm gonna try a cortozone shot in my hip (my doctor says I can be pain free for 3-4 months) during this time I'm gonna really try to build up (and stretch!) the muscles around my hip so that compensates for when the shot wears off. (Who knows?.....Cause at this point, I can't use even light weights cause it exacerbates my hip pain.) It's been very frustrating (I'm sure for you as well) because it's been hard to determine a 'cause' and 'effect' relationship to the pain -- meaning if THIS over here hurts like this, then I'll do THAT stretch or strengthening to correct it. -- Ugh...Anyway, all we could do is keep trying different methods. Before the cortozone shot, I may try acupuncture for the first time. Why not? I just read about it on another post and it's a good idea to try any 'alternative' method at this point. Let's all keep posting our results and working together and maybe one day one of us will happen on some amazing remedy and kick this pain for good!.... Brett, if you want to get in contact, email me at: udeskym@earthlink.net and it'd be great to talk (I myself have never talked to anyone with LP before.) Good luck.
Michael.
: I was 7 i think as well when i was first told i had torn legaments in my left leg, but a second opinion proved that it was LP. I was in a body cast for a year, traction for 2 weeks and wore a brace for 2 years. i was very active back then i guess i walked on that leg a little to much when i was in the cast and the joint is now sort of oval shaped (i guess i flatened it when it was still soft). Now im 29 and for the most part in crazy pain from arthritis.keeps me up at night and somtimes i have great difficulty walking. i have seen some specialists who have told me im too young for a replacement and to deal with the pain. i to dont like to take drugs but the pain is somtimes extreme. i have never posted a message before and ive never met anyone else who had LP, so i was just wondering if anyone would like to correspond with me and maybe we could share some experiences and posibly help each other deal with it just a bit, thanks.
