My 8 yr old son Evan has had perthes in left hip for 4 1/2 yrs now. His specialist says his perthes was as severe as it gets, so he's been slow to heal, which has probably put a lot more stress on his good leg. His right knee has really been bugging him over past few weeks though, to the point where he's been up every night crying in pain. The specialist said yesterday that he has Sindig-Larsen-Johanssen disease in his right leg, which is usually seen in older boys, who are going through growth spurt, and who are very active. Sindig is a condition where the bone grows faster than the surrounding ligaments, which causes pain in the center of the knee. I'm curious whether anyone else with perthes has experienced this in their "good leg"? If so, how long did it last, and any advise? It's so frustrating to see him limping on both legs ---especially since he's such a little jock.
Thanks in advance.
