I'm sorry to hear of the pain you are facing. From what I read in your post, your doctor is recommending a resurfacing. At 30, your doctor should also be telling you about the titanium replacement that is touted to be a lifetime replacement. You are old enough. Many doctors fear that if they do a replacement too soon, it will wear out while you are still young-especially if you are active. Then after a second replacement wears out, you are out of options. But with the lifetime replacement (which is still rather new), you shouldn't be facing such a dilemma. I would discuss this with your doctor. If he's not helpful, look for another opinion. If you are at a point where pain is unmanageable, the lifetime replacement may be a very good option for you.
